These are all basics repurposed for vacay (the dress also went to a Board meeting with heels and a metallic belt!)

We’re here again this week to “do it for the ladies in the place with style and grace…!” [thank you Biggie!]

This capsule collection consists of 16 items.

Same schpeel… this list took me a long while because with each year, I find a reason to tweak the list and as soon as I put it together, I want to substitute something that is more classic or versatile or foundational. UGH! But, I’m cool now and will be sharing the link with lots of folks (and you should too!)

I want to make sure you know what you’re getting. A capsule collection represents the foundational or classic items that allow you to not only create several outfits but increase the usage of your other wardrobe pieces AND a capsule collection must also be “fine-tuned” based on your Style Persona, where you live, your budget, and lifestyle.

This second capsule collection is for professional women who are mid-career and can see a path forward that is upward to leadership or as Founder of your own purpose project.

Style Blueprint is a reader-supported publication. To receive new posts and support my work, consider becoming a free or paid subscriber.

This seems like an ideal time to share this knowledge and collective wisdom because the New Year is often associated with new purchases, but 2025 is the perfect time to embrace sustainability. Capsule wardrobes aren’t just trendy—they’re a smart, stylish way to reduce clutter, save time, and focus on intentional dressing.

Here are your 16 versatile items that form the backbone of a capsule collection. I cannot emphasize enough that because a capsule collection is meant to represent those CLASSIC pieces that will act as the foundation for creating your wardrobe, where possible, lean away from fast fashion and focus on higher quality fabrics and styles that you have likely seen over and over and over again (they keep coming back for a reason people!). Let’s make your wardrobe work harder—and smarter—this year.

Women’s Capsule Collection: those who are mid-career and can see a path forward that is upwards to leadership or as Founder of your own purpose project

  1. Suits (2) – dark navy and black suit > the key here is to remember that you do not have to wear the suit together (as a matter of fact, don’t wear the black suit together unless it is FAB-U-LOUS because it reads ‘junior staff’). If you make one suit a pants suit and the other a skirt suit, you now have a black skirt, for example, to wear on a different occasion

  2. Button-down shirts (3) – at least one, must be white (and make it stellar)!

  3. Sweaters (4) – similar to the fellas, these should vary in color, style (v-neck, cardigan, pullover, open), and features (maybe a peplum, or some asymmetry depending on your Style Persona)
