Building a Men's Capsule Wardrobe for 2025

Can we agree that this gent is fashionable, relaxed casual but still pulled together?!

The list consists of 16 items.

This is the first part because… I think it warrants two articles. Men and women are different, and their lists look different as well!

If I’m honest, this article took me a long while because with each year, I find a reason to tweak the list and as soon as I put it together, I want to substitute something that is more classic or versatile or foundational. UGH!

But alas, I’m committing to this Capsule Collection and will be sharing it with several individuals who need it as well as a few others who have no clue about a capsule collection but keep saying, “I want a capsule collection!”

I’m not going to share the “why” of every piece because that should be pretty obvious… it’s essential. But before I share the list, I want to make sure you know what you’re getting. While capsule collection represents the foundational or classic items that allow you to not only create several outfits and increase the usage of your other wardrobe pieces, but a capsule collection must also be “fine-tuned” based on your Style Persona, where you live, your budget, and lifestyle.

This first capsule collection is for professional men who are established in their careers and may either be moving up, jumping ship laterally, or completely ‘running for the fences’ and jumping into entrepreneurship.

This seems like an ideal time to share this knowledge and collective wisdom because the New Year is often associated with new purchases, but 2025 is the perfect time to embrace sustainability. Capsule wardrobes aren’t just trendy—they’re a smart, stylish way to reduce clutter, save time, and focus on intentional dressing.

Here are the 16 versatile pieces that form the backbone of a capsule collection or wardrobe. I cannot emphasize enough that because a capsule collection is meant to represent those CLASSIC pieces that will act as the foundation for creating your wardrobe, where possible, lean away from fast fashion and focus on higher quality fabrics and styles that you have likely seen over and over and over again (they keep coming back for a reason people!). Men’s Capsule Collection: those who are established in their careers and may either be moving up, jumping ship laterally, or completely ‘running for the fences’ and jumping into entrepreneurship

1. At least one suit – dark navy or medium grey suit, Super 130s/140s (perfect balance between durability and year-round function)

2. Long-sleeve sport shirts (4)

3. Sweaters (3) – these can vary from short to long-sleeve, cotton to cashmere, button-up cardigan to shawl-collared sweater
