It was a fun and exhilarating summer in the late 1970s when I first met my soon-to-be love of a lifetime. We locked eyes in Pappagallo’s and I would be forever changed. Long and lean, crisp and clean, nicely shaped but not too stuffy, this white button-down shirt was everything! The collar was petite and feminine, and a placket hid the buttons so the finish was polished.
It was the first time, but surely not the last, that I had felt an instant “connection” to a piece a clothing - sounds almost unreal but so true! Today, I want to share the minimalist beauty of this maximum versatility item, the white button down or, as I have affectionately termed it, the LWB or little white button-down.
