Every year I create a few fashion goals. I find that, similar to annual goals (work or personal), they help me to focus, give me motivation, and create something that I can cheerlead around even if just for me! This year I created three fashion goals and, truth be told, I did them in part for me but also because I wanted my clients to see the impact focus and intentionality can have.
It’s a “walk the walk” moment, ya know?!
So one of my goals is to max out with buying only 12 new clothing purchases for the year! Now, that may seem doable (or maybe not) but I am a wardrobe stylist and spend at least 20 hours of any week shopping, researching, finding clothing items that are awesome, basically fabulous, gamechangers, and/or elevated essentials for men and women.
This is not only lofty but, a true challenge for me!
Sidebar: to make this slightly trickier as if that were possible, is that as of late, I’ve found the men’s department to be chock full of pieces that are sartorial GOLD!

Bat alas, we are two months into this cray year and I’ve purchased just one item! WOOHOO!!!
My first purchase happened in February and was in honor of Black History Month. I started the year with an even stronger focus on emerging brands, small businesses, and Black-owned brands and, for a few unstated-but-likely-obvious reasons, I have doubled down on that focus!
